Servitization for Economic and Environmental Sustainability
Gruppo Contec is competing for the “Obiettivo Sostenibilità 2022” Award with the goal of promoting ideas and concrete examples of Verona-based companies that have adopted or are introducing sustainable practices. The latest issue of Pantheon, dedicated to this topic and printed on recycled paper, is fully focused on this theme.
Why was Gruppo Contec selected to participate in the awarding of this sustainability prize?
In addition to a traditional, spontaneous commitment to the well-being of its people, focusing on flexibility, gender equality, and economic fairness, Contec has identified and promotes through its consulting services a particularly effective tool for the sustainable and, above all, profitable development of business. This tool is called servitization, a new business model based more on services and less on the sale of products.
This model addresses the actual end-user need for a good, benefiting both producers and consumers with the aim of creating more value for the customer and providing more services related to support.
Stefano Lappa, a member of the Gruppo Contec board, explains:
“Remaining the owner of the good and ensuring that it functions for years means designing it to have greater durability. In this sense, this approach would eliminate the phenomenon of planned obsolescence: the product must last longer and break as little as possible. At the same time, remaining the owner of the good allows me to continue collecting data, gaining a better understanding of products and customers, and enables me to reuse it, either fully or for some of its components. This innovative approach will renew business strategies, bringing incredible economic advantages but, above all, environmental benefits.”
