Reinforced Concrete Bridges in Verona: The Dedicated Book

On October 4, 2022, the archival project concerning the territory of Verona, which also involves Contec Ingegneria, will be officially presented to the public at the Accademia di Agricoltura Scienze e Lettere. The focus of the project is the reinforced concrete bridges in the city of Verona.

The “Quaderni degli archivi veronesi” series aims to promote research, knowledge, and dissemination of the Veronese archival collections, with particular attention to buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, including territory, cartography, infrastructure, and architectural heritage.

This initiative is part of the “Archivi del costruito del territorio veronese in rete” project (abbreviated ARCOVER), made possible through the support of Fondazione Cariverona (https://www.fondazionecariverona.org/news/arcover/).
The project’s goal is to gather archival documentation and create a unified digital database that links together various public and private archives, facilitating consultation and dissemination.

The aim is to communicate architectural and engineering culture and increase awareness of urban heritage, including the 20th century, which is often underappreciated and at risk of being lost or destroyed.

The ARCOVER project is also supported by the Province of Verona, the Order of Architects of Verona, the Order of Engineers of Verona, the College of Surveyors, the Order of Agronomists and Foresters, ANCE, ESEV, and the IVRES Association.

Contec Ingegneria has been involved in the initiative on reinforced concrete bridges in Verona and has joined with great enthusiasm, given its deep and extensive experience with this type of structure, which dates back to its origins in 1962 in a context still recovering from the aftermath of the Second World War, which was in desperate need of infrastructure to rebuild. Dr. Renzo Savoia, the founder of Contec Ingegneria, contributed to the writing of volume /03 of the series dedicated to Verona’s bridges, bringing historical knowledge and expertise.
