Eurocoil’s Industrial Expansion Project Begins with Inauguration Ceremony
On January 19, in the presence of institutional representatives and a large delegation from the parent company, Baltimore Aircoil, the construction site for Eurocoil’s industrial expansion in Bovolone was officially opened. Contec is overseeing the design, implementation, and safety processes for this ambitious industrial development.
The inauguration took place in a warm, almost familial atmosphere at Eurocoil’s headquarters in Bovolone (www.eurocoil.it). The first stone was laid for the new 9,000-square-meter production area, which will be built adjacent to the current facility. Over 160 new employees are expected to be hired over the next seven years.
The expansion is part of a 15-million-euro investment funded by the new owners, Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC – https://baltimoreaircoil.com/), a global leader in cooling solutions for the commercial, industrial, and refrigeration markets. In July 2021, BAC acquired 100% of Eurocoil.
BAC, headquartered in Belgium, has been committed to improving its production capacity in Europe, leveraging the expertise provided by the Verona-based group.
David Jacobs, Vice President of Baltimore, emphasized this commitment: “We are very pleased to be here today and to have kept the promise we made a year and a half ago. We believe strongly in Eurocoil, its founders, and all the employees working for the company. This investment is the first of many and will help expand our market globally.”
Luciano Pasetto, co-founder of Eurocoil, commented: “This is an exciting moment for us. After 48 years of work and 27 years of Eurocoil, we’re at a very interesting point for the future of the company, both in terms of potential expansion and technological improvement. It’s time for us to pass the baton, but we’re confident that this is the right decision for everyone who helped us grow and develop, as well as for the entire Bovolone area and beyond.”
Since the announcement of the expansion, dozens of job applications have poured in from individuals eager to work for Eurocoil, which is now one of Europe’s leading suppliers of finned batteries, remote condensers, and dry coolers for the refrigeration and air conditioning markets.
Claudio Bittante, CEO and co-founder, added: “With this investment, production volumes will increase, and we’ll introduce a new assembly line for the components we already manufacture. We need more personnel, both specialized and general, and we’ve already started the recruitment process. Thanks to the media and social networks, the word spread quickly, and we’ve received many resumes. It’s a positive sign.”
Raffaele Boscaini, President of Confindustria Verona, also attended the event: “It’s a pleasure for us to see companies growing, taking risks, and investing. It’s a time when there are plenty of excuses not to do it, but here, they are taking action and believing in the future. This is the spirit that should drive not just Confindustria and its member companies, but everyone. What I appreciate most about this operation is that the founders and the large American multinational have found a very smooth operational process, which I’m sure is tied to the so-called corporate culture—a model to follow.”
The Mayor of Bovolone, Orfeo Pozzani, expressed his satisfaction: “Being here today for the laying of the first stone for a project like this, knowing that global investors believe in our territory and our companies, allowing us to double the number of jobs in just a few years, is truly a source of great pride.”
Engineer Paolo Cossato, Technical Director at Contec Ingegneria, commented on the challenge of the tight project timelines: “The client’s required completion schedule is quite short, with the delivery set for about a year from now. But we are confident we can meet the deadline.” He also highlighted the focus on sustainability with the ambitious goal of achieving LEED® Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a benchmark for energy and environmental efficiency in design.
Also present at the ceremony were Nicola Baldo, a member of the Verona Chamber of Commerce, and Emanuela Brunelli, the Councillor for Private Construction, Urban Planning, and Ecology in Bovolone.
Project Overview
The expansion of the existing production facility covers about 10,000 square meters in a lot adjacent to the current site. The new industrial building will be connected to the existing facility via a canopy, ensuring continuous production operations.
The facility will be equipped with overhead cranes throughout the production areas, designed to maximize natural light for optimal comfort for employees working in the production process.
The external yards will be used for handling large machines produced within the facility using state-of-the-art equipment.
The project places particular emphasis on sustainability, with the ambitious goal of achieving LEED® Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a standard of excellence in energy efficiency and environmental design. Special care is given to water recovery for irrigation and service use, as well as waste water management, ensuring minimal impact on the existing water network.
Sustainable management is also a priority for both construction materials and waste during the building process. Additionally, the materials used for the roofing and external areas are carefully selected to minimize heat buildup in the summer.
The project also involves the renovation of the existing buildings to create a cohesive and unified appearance for the entire development.
A significant portion of the energy used to power the building will be generated by the photovoltaic system installed on the roof, optimizing the production of hot and cold fluids for air conditioning through modern heat pump systems. This approach reduces the reliance on fossil fuels.
The design and construction phases are being managed by Contec Ingegneria and Contec AQS Ambiente Qualità Sicurezza.
Advanced project management techniques are being used to schedule and control costs, ensuring the timely completion of the production lines while meeting Eurocoil’s specific needs. Contec Ingegneria is also overseeing the LEED® certification process.
