Contec Industry Supports the Fight Against Violence Towards Women
Contec Industry supports the first female team at the Resia Rosolina Relay: a great challenge and strong motivation.
430 km of running along the course of the Adige River—from Lake Resia to the mouth at Rosolina Mare—passing through 5 provinces and nearly 70 municipalities, covering about 40 hours of relay running: these are the key elements of the RESIA ROSOLINA RELAY event.
The RESIA ROSOLINA RELAY (https://resiarosolinarelay.it/) is an ambitious race for athletes willing to set aside individual goals in favor of a bigger, team-oriented objective. Each team consists of 10 people who take turns along the route, covering a marathon distance each, running continuously day and night, in both good and bad weather. The true goal is to finish the race as quickly as possible, relying on close collaboration, shared efforts, and teamwork.
There are over 30 teams in the fourth edition (September 8-9, 2023), but one of them is standing out for its impactful elements.
Contec Industry has chosen to support the efforts of these 10 female athletes, including Maria Giovanna Verdesca—a colleague in Contec Industry working in Marketing and Communications—who is the initiative’s promoter among our team. She shared her thoughts:
I’ve participated in all editions of this race because, from the beginning, it has captivated me: the running, the complete course from source to mouth, the nature, the total sharing with a team like a family, but also the solitude, the challenge with myself, the desire, and the freedom.
There are many symbols and metaphors I associate with the Resia Rosolina Relay, and I like how each year is a different experience. Today, I add another layer to my journey: running with and for women, which is a powerful message of strength and independence. This will be a special edition, as it will feature a completely female team for the first time, and I am privileged to be both a witness and representative of this change.
The Lunatike—named with the aim of breaking another stereotype—comprises a diverse group in terms of age, background, and experience, but united by their passion for running and shared values. They chose this race and its format to launch a fundraising campaign supporting the Psychological Support Project for women victims of domestic violence, managed by La Casa di protezione della Giovane (https://www.protezionedellagiovane.it/), an association in Verona dedicated to offering shelter, support, and moral and material help to women in difficulty.
The Psychological Support Project provides counseling and professional help to women in protective care and victims of domestic violence, as well as those in emergency housing situations, often with young children, isolated and without a support network of family or friends. These vulnerable conditions—without support—make it difficult for women to regain control of their lives and strive for independence. Psychological support helps them face even daily challenges.
Contec Industry recognizes and rewards the initiative Maria Giovanna and her team represent through this sports and social project. Running, here, is both an individual and group activity: in the relay, much like in our everyday work, individual skills are important, but it’s essential that these integrate to bring out the true strength of a complete, solid, and motivated team.
This image represents us: multidisciplinary, integration, and dynamism are elements in our DNA.
The decision to combine this sporting achievement with a solidarity goal is commendable and reaffirms our decision to support The Lunatike and contribute to a project that benefits our community and promotes its positive growth.
